Almost everywhere you go now whether it’s a mall, art fair, farmers market, massage salon, coffee house and you see CBD/hemp oil. What truly is all the fuss about. I am going to attempt to enlighten you.
CBD is one of over 60 compounds found in cannabis that belong to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids. CBD is different. Unlike THC, it is not psychoactive. This means that CBD does not change a person’s state of mind when they use it.
CBD does appear to produce significant changes in the body, and some research suggests that it has medical benefits.
The least processed form of the cannabis plant is hemp. Hemp contains most of the CBD that people use medicinally.
So how does the CBD effect the body?
The ECS does this via cannabinoid receptors found in select tissues. We have (at least) two types of cannabinoid receptors:
CB1 which is in the central nervous system (brain and nerves of the spinal cord)
CB2 which is in the peripheral nervous system (nerves in your extremities), the digestive system, and specialized cells in the immune system
The ECS is responsible for regulation and balance (homeostasis). This elaborate network is part of the immune system and when activated by taking cannabinoids from cannabis we have a better ability to fight, resist and assist in repairing the mind and body.
Some of the benefits of CBD are:
* Appetite
* Digestion
* Immune function
* Inflammation, including neuro-inflammation
* Mood
* Sleep
* Reproduction/fertility
* Motor control
* Temperature regulation
* Memory
* Pain
* Pleasure/reward
I hope this enlightened you somewhat about CBD/Hemp Oil and the importance it plays in our health.
