Why Exercise You Ask?

Anyone can exercise regardless of their fitness level. No matter where you start, it will improve your overall well-being.

Let me tell you about one of my clients from years ago. This man had peripheral artery disease (PAD) which is blockage in the arteries of the leg(s), was recommended to exercise in a hospital walking program. He also had a history of a heart attack. He reluctantly started in the program. Walking with PAD is very difficult because it causes pain in one or both calves. The best treatment is to walk as it, helps build little branches off the artery to supply blood to the working muscles. He could barely walk 2x around the gym without having pain. It’s a slow process but, within a year he was close to walking 1 mile. It made a huge difference in his life and he couldn’t thank us enough.

An easy way to increase your activity is to park further away. Try walking a block to start and add one block everyday. Before you know it you too will be walking close to a mile and feeling better each day. Having trouble getting started – how about a free exercise consult?
